Seven States Power Corporation (7SPC) was incorporated in 2007 by the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) as a separate, non-profit membership corporation with the powers of a generation & transmission cooperative to serve TVPPA’s 154 distributor members.

 

The cooperative serves as a platform for designing, developing and deploying distribution services, including energy and demand solutions. Current areas of focus include renewables, distribution management services and generation ownership. Relative to other energy solutions providers, Seven States represents the community interest of local power companies as they navigate change through the distribution marketplace of the future. Seven States is a visionary solutions warehouse that offers relevant products and services customized to meet the unique needs of each local power company because our customers are our owners.

 

7SPC has its own board of directors and officers. Membership in 7SPC is voluntary and includes 129 local power companies from the seven-state region served by TVA.

What’s Seven States Power Corp.?
7SPC was incorporated in July 2007 by the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) as a separate, non-profit membership corporation. It’s designed to serve as a generation and transmission (G & T) cooperative for TVPPA’s 154 distributor members.
What’s the difference, then, between 7SPC and TVPPA?
7SPC has its own board of directors and officers. Participation is voluntary. 7SPC has currently 128 members representing more than 94 percent of the Valley’s meters. The current officers are Chairman Rody Blevins of Volunteer EC, Decatur, TN; Vice Chairman Greg Fay of Clinton, TN, UB and Secretary/Treasurer Jim Ferrell of Jackson, TN, EA. Doug Peters is 7SPC’s president/CEO, while Betsey Kirk McCall serves as vice president.
What’s the makeup of the 7SPC Board of Directors?
The 7SPC Board of Directors is made up of 17 individuals – one for each of the district associations in its footprint, and one representing each of 10 divisions based on utility size.
